People often come to meet with me because something isn't working. They can't get through the week, or even the day sometimes, without their anxiety taking over. Or maybe they're unhappy with life itself - with their job, or their friendships, or their intimate relationships. They wish they were less stressed, able to pull it together, thriving, and happy, but instead they feel sad, lost, stuck, and overwhelmed.
Some of my clients have lost things that were important to them (a loved one, a relationship, a job, or a life dream) and are navigating that pain, and others feel life has been full of a series of small and large disappointments and they've gradually lost a sense of direction, purpose, or hope.
It's hard to know what exactly to do to make things better.
Who Am I?
I spent many years on the other side of the couch in counseling and relate personally to the struggle that my clients go through to change their lives. Changing yourself and your life can be hard work (and expensive), but I truly think it's worth the effort and worth every penny. I experienced some wonderful healing from my own therapy and believe therapy has an incredible amount to offer anyone and everyone. I absolutely love my work as a counselor, and feel honored to get to hear the details and about what matters most in people's lives - their past experiences, current struggles, and hopes for the future. I love celebrating with them as things begin to turn around in their lives!
I'm a fan of the mountains, fresh coffee, farmers markets, thrift stores, traveling, good books, concerts, and being with friends and family. I originally hail from Dallas, Texas and I can't turn down a good chips and salsa/guac combo (but then, I mean...who can?) As a curious person who often enjoys learning new hobbies, Colorado is the perfect place (my latest is fly fishing).
My Christian faith greatly influences who I am as a person and how I think about health, wholeness, and meaning as a counselor. However, I welcome and frequently work with individuals and couples from all personal belief backgrounds.
